Announcing the 1st Project Management Panel Discussion and Networking Event, this inaugural event Co-hosted by University College - University of Denver in partnership with the PMI Mile Hi Chapter brings together universities from around the metro area. With your help we will kick off a series of discussion panels and networking events that will challenge, entertain, and give you immediate tools to use in your professional careers. 

Join us at Craig Hall from 5:30 until 8:00 PM on the DU Campus for networking and an in-depth industry/academia discussion about Agile Project Management and Virtual Team Management in terms of theory and practice. Plus earn a valuable PDU, learn about Chapter Membership benefits, and Program and Project Management programs from universities across the Front Range.

Refreshments and parking pass included.

Our panelists include Pete Fischer and Michael D. Swansegar from local industry, and Raymond Kaufman and Howard Fish Adjunct Professors from University College at the University of Denver.

We’ll bring the industry experts, you bring your business cards, and we’ll all bring a desire to learn, innovate, and thrive.

 


 

PANELISTS:

Pete Fisher, PMP

Mr. Fisher is the CIO & Director of Consulting Services for Lewis & Fowler. Lewis & Fowler is a Colorado based management consulting and strategic staff augmentation firm focused on IT strategy, execution and efficiency since 2002.

Prior to joining Lewis & Fowler in 2010, Pete was Vice President - Information Systems for Staples, Inc. (formerly Corporate Express). He was responsible for over 225 IS personnel in Colorado and the associated architecture, development, infrastructure and operation of all systems and technology that supported Staples' $3B+ B2B ecommerce business hosted in Colorado.

Pete joined Corporate Express in 2005 as Director - IS PMO.  In April 2007 his areas of responsibility expanded to all IT infrastructure and operations.  In October 2007, he was promoted to Vice President - IT Operations and Support.  Subsequent to Staples' acquisition of Corporate Express, Pete's responsibilities expanded to include oversight of all of IS in September of 2008.

Pete’s multi-faceted career spans 30 years in IT, management consulting, sales and finance.  In addition to Staples, Pete has held leadership positions for Coors Brewing Company, Lucent Technologies, Cap Gemini, Boston Market, Achieve Global and Comerica Bank.

Pete earned his MBA from the University of Michigan and his Bachelor of Arts degree from Albion College.

Pete currently lives in Littleton, Colorado. 


Michael D. Swansegar, CSP, CSPO

Mr. Swansegar is Product Development Manager of ProfitStreams, has been engaged in agile software development environments for over 5 years.  

Michael has also started his own consulting business to help companies adapt to the culture shift that agile software development brings.  He is a Certified Scrum Product Owner and Certified Scrum Professional and has been in Information Technology since 1998 working in many roles ranging from helpdesk, infrastructure support, application support, quality assurance, business analysis and product management.

Michael has worked in many industries including healthcare, retail, restaurants, consulting, and local search/yellow pages.  His clients have included names such as University Hospitals Health System (UHHS), Johnson & Johnson, GE Healthcare, European Directories and IBM.  

Michael has been touring the Universities of the Denver/Boulder area providing agile seminars to the software development classes.  Michael is a "business network social butterfly" and is always open to helping people come to understand the 'culture of agile.' 


Raymond Kaufman, PMP

Mr. Kaufman has over 15 years of program and project management experience.  Currently, he is an Information Technology Project Manager at Level3, a telecommunications company.  Also he works as an independent Project Management Consultant.   He has over 25 years of expertise in sales, marketing, finance, management and technology. His positions titles ranges from individual contributor to Senior Vice President.  He has worked for his own companies, startups, small, medium and large organizations like CenturyLink, Sprint Nextel, GE, Citi Bank, American Express, CSC, and retail stores.  Raymond has received numerous recognition and top performer awards.  During summer of 2010 he received Master Teacher award from DU.  He has an MBA from University of Phoenix and a BSBA from Xavier University.  His professional certification is a PMP from the Project Management Institute.  He has a patent pending on ideas, process and software to aid the processing of back office paperwork and image processing. 

Raymond is married for over 30 years and has 3 children.  He has lived in over 10 US states and overseas.  He likes to take cruises, hike and ski.  He spends his extra time helping a local charity and as a mentor.  He is an avid FaceBook user and enjoys social networking. 


Howard Fish, 

Mr. Fish has more than 20 years of experience within technological sectors of the healthcare, financial, Internet, restaurant, legal and telecommunication industries. Presently Mr. Fish is an Adjunct Professor with University College at the University of Denver.  Previously Howard was Vice President and Chief Information Officer, at onTargetjobs Mr. Fish first joined onTargetjobs as Vice President of Products and Software Development in 2008, managing enterprise strategy and development across seven technology companies. Prior to onTargetjobs, he was a Director and then Vice President and General Manager of Global eCommerce Technology Products at FirstData Corp. Mr. Fish managed FirstData’s portfolio of technical products that generated more than $120 billion in annual sales and 47% year-over-year growth. Mr. Fish has also led technology platforms for companies such as Travelers Express/MoneyGram, Boston Market and AT&T Broadband. He has a Bachelors of Science with a double major in computer information and business administration from Mayville State University and a Masters of Technology Management from the University of Denver. 


Moderator

Irv Stern, PMP

 

Irv Stern has over 15 years of experience in the technology and IT industries. Most recently, he has worked as an independent Project Management Consultant for Cisco Systems.   He has over 15 years of expertise in marketing, management and information technology.

Prior to his independent work, Irv was a Marketing Program Manager for Sun Microsystems where he led major marketing initiatives in the web design, software implementation, and cloud computing areas.  He excels at building strong virtual teams and encouraging his teams to make progress rather than insisting on perfection.

He has a Masters degree in Computer Information Systems from University of  Denver.  Irv earned his  PMP certification from the Project Management Institute in 2005 and completed a self-study regimen with a fellow PMP exam study partner.

He is an active member in the local PMI Mile Hi Chapter and a also an active member of the Boulder Marketing Group. Aside from lots of time spent on social media, Irv can be found running, swimming and playing basketball with his two daughters.
